“You taught me the courage of stars, before you left. How light carries on endlessly, even after death. With shortness of breath, you explained the infinite. How rare and beautiful it is, to even exist.”

- Saturn • Sleeping at Last

And so it is.

In cultures throughout the world, the number 9 has been considered the most humanitarian and worldly of all numbers. In numerology, it represents the experience of past, leading to forgiveness, selflessness, and compassion. It pops up in the most interesting places and holds a significant position across ideologies. Of course, the Greeks counted 9 muses and in Feng Shui, the map of the home is made up of 9 sacred areas. Nine is an usher into a new beginning; the completion of one cycle and the birthing of another.  In Hinduism, 9 is viewed as a divine number, and has become the essence of inner wisdom and experience.

Mathematically, if you multiply 9 by any number, it reduces back to 9, no matter how large. As a result, the number 9 is known for its cyclical nature and for conjuring cosmic harmony. Hence, the Usher from one completion to another beginning.

What drew me so deeply to these talismans is that they serve as reminder of the nights sky, and the beauty we can find simply by looking upwards. Our very own solar system, bound with endless mystery and force, holds 9 planets (if you count Pluto, that is). Being inescapably infatuated with all our universe holds and beyond, that was the very thing that brought me to my knees when I found these beautiful rose cut diamond studded pieces of adornment.

Created in 18k gold, enamel & diamonds, these pendants were once a set of brooches fabricated in the Victorian Era, and have been re-imagined into more than just tokens of adornment. We see them as vessels, helping to ease the transition from one cycle into another. Bound with hope and wisdom for what the future can hold, especially that which we cannot see. A spiritual compass of sorts, both inside ones self and all around. Something we all could use a little more of right now.
