In the late 1800’s, Edmond Fouche and Charles Picard invented a torch that uses hyhdrogen and oxygen to successfully melt platinum safely enough to be implemented on a commercial basis. Almost immediately platinum stormed the jewelry industry. Platinum jewelry became the new kuxury standard across Europe, adorning royalty and the upper-class. By the turn of the century, platinum jewelry reached the United States. It was the metal of choice until World War II when its use was heavily restricted.

When we found this vintage diamond ring, we were reminded why platinum was the metal of kings and queens. A beautiful Old European Cut Diamond, weighing in at 1.19cts, is set in an expertly crafted platinum ring. The metalwork is both soft and architectural, and a gorgeous metallic shade of subdued white. Smaller diamonds are set in a row on both the east and west sides of the center stone, and two more both above and below.

This platinum ring would make an extraordinary engagement ring, it’s strength destined to be passed through generations.
