What You Should Know: Chain is all original and solid.

In 1800, a bare knuckle boxer named Jem Belcher who was the reigning English champ for five years. He was so beloved that oddly enough, a new type of jewelry chain was named after him- the Belcher Chain. Just like its namesake, links in belcher chains are broad and strong. The style was incredibly popular throughout the 19th century and came in various thicknesses and lengths.

This Victorian baby belcher chain is solid 10k gold and measures 15” long. This slightly shorter than usual length makes this antique ornament the perfect choker length, ideal for wearing on its own or mixing with other necklaces of varying lengths. We love the weighty-ness and beauty to each individual micro link in this chain- that kind of consideration is a lost art belonging only to artisans from long ago.
