Continuing our aim to retain the beauty and nobility of antique jewelry, while simultaneously rejuvenating it for the present day wearer, we knew an everyday necklace was in store. We reimagined a portion of diamonds from an 18th century diamond riviere into a handful of solitaire diamond necklaces, strung on a modern 14k gold chain. The simplicity of the overall design draws attention to the not-so-simple setting, which we believe is the most special aspect of this small collection of old mine cut pendants.
The collet setting is a classic Georgian feature but quite rare since most diamonds found in this type of setting have been removed and recut or reset throughout the decades. The collet setting is a thin rubbed over piece of metal, in this case silver, that hugs the exact shape of the stone and crimped around the perimeter. Diamonds housed in their original collet setting are as scarce as they come and we are ecstatic this collection will disperse so many collet set antique diamonds throughout the world. Their historical value is only rivaled by their beauty.
