What You Should Know: These Diamond Climbers have been kept in their original 19th century setting and were originally part of a larger necklace. Diamonds are open backed for every day wear.

There is evidence that diamond trade dates back to as long ago as 400 BC in India. By the 1400s, diamonds were making their way from India to Western Europe en route to Venetian markets. The mysteriously sparkling stone was in such high demand, the Indian mines’ supply began to dwindle during the 1700s, right around the same time diamonds were discovered in Brazil. Tiny flashes of light were found by gold miners, and sent back to Europe and North America. Brazil would remain the most prominent source for diamonds during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Since these beautiful antique components were created circa 1800, we can assume these dazzling diamonds originate back to the Brazilian mines. Each one was likely carried to Europe and then cut and polished by a talented lapidarist. A skilled artisan then handcrafted each setting around the diamonds available, creating romantic fluid shapes that have survived two centuries.

We were stunned by the beauty of each component, and knew we needed to give them the opportunity to bring others joy. By saving the original stones, settings, and materials, we sought to honor each person that I had a hand in giving them life- the earth from which they came, the gold miners who happened upon them, the polisher who tirelessly exposed their beauty, the jeweler who designed the piece, and the many lovers over time.

Our newest collaboration with Jewels by Grace feature high quality antique diamonds in a glimmering pendant on an invisible bale, a divine inspired ring, small twinkling earrings, and long jaw dropping ear climbers.
