Most historical references on the origin of diamond cutting attribute Vincent Peruzzi as the Venetian lapidarist who “invented” the second elevated phase of brilliant cut diamonds (the first being the mazarin). His namesake diamond was fashioned at the turn of the 17th century, and featured a diamond faceted on both the crown and below the girdle. These stones, deemed the peruzzi cut, had more fire and brilliance than any other cut that came before them, and were the precursor to the old mine cuts that were so popular for decades to come.

Peruzzis, also known as triple cuts, are some of the rarest diamonds on the market today. Sadly, most of them have been recut at some point in history as techniques and preferences evolved. When we were given the opportunity to save this Georgian component and give it a new life, we were especially thrilled as it features 1.5 carats of glittering Peruzzi cut diamonds.

Reminiscent of a music note, this component has been reinvented into a modern ring. We adore how each stone was handset into a cobblestone pattern in silver topped gold, which is complimented by light texturing on the 18k band. The original 19th century collet settings have been preserved, as we believe their unique aesthetic only adds to the beauty of the one of a kind peruzzi cut diamonds. An extraordinary ring fit for your muse.

 JBYGxTOIL:

At The One I Love NYC, we consider it a personal obligation to preserve the past in all its storied beauty. Each handmade treasure from centuries ago still has a narrative to tell, and we are honored to reinvent ways to tell these stories. The founder of Jewels by Grace stands by a similar mission: To bring connection and joy through antique and vintage jewelry while celebrating history through adornment.

We are excited to announce our latest collaboration with Jewels by Grace. The JBG x TOIL capsule collection was born from an inevitable partnership between experts and friends. Together, we’ve designed a limited collection of beautiful antique components re-imagined into modern fine jewelry. We joined forces to carefully preserve the original magic of each hand selected component and dream up new ways for these elements to continue their legacy. The resulting assortment features 18th and 19th century old cut gems sourced by Jewels by Grace, repurposed into wearable art by The One I Love.

This new collection is the product of shared beliefs- beauty, meaning, and character persevere not in spite of age, but because of it.
