In 1874, Henry Morse patented a machine that would change the game for diamond cutting. A steam-powered bruting machine, lending the way to create a symmetrical, and truly round, diamond (an almost impossible task to do by hand). Round was the new standard and the Old European Cut was the dominating choice for decades to come. A motorized saw appropriate for diamond cutting was sold in 1900, eliminating the need for blunt cleaving. The invention of these types of machines was the introduction to the commercialization of diamond cutting. An ancient practice, now a modernized trade.

By the Edwardian Era, when this magnificent ring was created, these techniques had evolved and perfected. A .7 ct Old European cut diamond is bezel set in a platinum frame and placed into an intricate gold band. The diamond has a fascinating facet pattern, one we could get lost in for eternity. The 18k yellow gold band has a lovely weight to it with thoughtful cutouts and detailing.

We love how this ring is feminine without any ounce of delicacy. Its strength is in its beauty.
